Motivational gas tank running on empty

During different times in our lives, the majority of us have experienced a lack of motivation; or rather, our motivation gas tank is running on empty.

 Ask yourself the following questions:

  • What is happening in your life?
  • Are you experiencing stress?
  • Are you overworked?
  • Are you underpaid?
  • Do you have too much on your plate?
  • Do you say yes too often?
  • Are you worried about the healthcare system?
  • Are you concerned about the future of America?
  • Are you concerned how you are going to pay for your children’s college?

These are just a few sample questions, some or all of us experience at some point in our lives and we already know the answers, but these things that when constantly on our minds will run our motivation gas tank dry and cause us to become drained emotionally, physically and spiritually.

There are just a few simple suggestions to help refill your motivation tank:

Let go of the past – for the majority we all have a past and need to let it go. What good is it to hold onto what cannot ever be changed?

Remember Successes – Whether from your past or present remember your achievements no matter how small or how large they are.

Realize Possibilities – Accept that you can change your life, realize you can live your dreams and you can create a better life. It is your choice.

Dream BIG – To inspire action in yourself, dream big.

Think Change – If you think alone and do not take action, change will not come.

Daily Habit – Set time aside daily for at least 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes to reassess your day and plan for tomorrow.

The Mixer – Add a new step to your daily routine. Variety is the spice of life.

Team Support – No one can do this alone. Enlist the support of your spouse, family, or friends. They can be great motivators for the slippery slope of setbacks.

Get all excited – Think about your goals, dreams, desires, and smile at doing something that will bring you joy.

Standards on High – Now is the time to make sure you raise your standards. If you do not, then you will not go to the level you need to achieve your goals, dreams, and desires.

Ownership – Before positive changes can take place, you have to own your goals, dreams, and desires. You need to take responsibility for your life in the past, present and future.

Journaling – Throughout busy lives, a person can have millions of thoughts, ideas running through their minds; write them down in a journal, notebook, or calendar.

Admiration – Is there anyone that you admire? Write down at least three people whom you admire and why. Keep list handy and read it daily as an inspiration.

Progress Measure – Keep track of your progress.

Education –The more you know, the more you will grow.

Goodbye Negativity – Clear your mind of negative thoughts. This can be difficult at times especially with today’s world and the amount of stress many have. What you can do is write one thing you are thankful for each day and eventually you will find more positives than negatives.

These are just a few suggestions to help you along in refilling your motivational gas tank. As I am writing this, I am in the process of refilling my gas tank. I have had some difficult times in my past and present. Although, I have learned that God is always watching, I remember that I have family and friends who are my support and will never be forgotten even when I have an empty motivational gas tank. They are there when you need them.

Just a few simple kind words, a hug, a smile can refill the gas tank.
