Blocks Crochet
I am desperately looking for a crochet expert that can teach me how to block on a crocheted tablecloth.?
I am doing a Tea rose Tablecloth and am confused on how to do the Blocks. It is a Special Stitch and is associated with the Extended dc.
I have listed a youtube video that will show you the old way to starch a doily. If i was the one doing the table cloth though here’s how i would do it.
After the clothe is finished and all of your ends are secure wash the piece on the gentle cycle then dry it to a damp dry. Make sure it doesn’t fully dry.
Then lay the cloth on a clean carpet and use your iron on a very low cotton setting to iron it to shape. When laying the cloth out make sure it is how you want it to be before you iron and iron it gently. You want to press instead of push the iron. If you want after it is pressed you can use a spray starch to stiffen it slightly. Just mist the whole thing and let it dry. Do this when the husband and kids are gone for the day or at least several hours so it wont get stepped on or messed with.
I have been crocheting for 24 years and know what I am doing as well as been married for 11 so I know how husbands can be.
