Threading Hair Removal Advantages and Disadvantages
Lots of people today are wanting to get rid of unwanted body hair. The upper lip, eyebrows and arms are common areas where people are looking to get treated. Threading has been around for centuries and is a common hair removal method in many Asian countries. It’s not really know where threading originated, but it quite commonly seen in India and the Middle East. The technique uses a cotton thread that is twisted and pulled across the surface of the skin, which quickly and effectively removes the hair from the follicles.
Threading is quite fast and fairly pain free, less painful than waxing. If done by a professional, threading can quickly remove several hairs at once in a quick fashion. It is very effective for the upper lip and eyebrows because it’s quicker than tweezing and a lot less messy than waxing. And compared to both, less painful as well.
Along with what I’ve mentioned previously, threading is also very safe. It doesn’t cause rashes or any kind of ripping of the skin like waxing can do. Some hair removal creams use chemicals that can irritate your skin and cause a rash. Threading doesn’t do that.
Threading also has longer lasting benefits than waxing or using creams. It can take a few weeks after threading for the hairs to grow back. That’s a bit longer than waxing or using creams.
The one major drawback is that it needs to be done by a well trained professional. If it’s not done right the hairs will just break instead of being uprooted, which means they’ll grow back a lot faster. And it can be hard to find an expert at doing it because it’s not that common of a practice in North America.
