My cat didn’t recognize my dog after I put a sweater on her?
Yesterday I put a small sweater on my dog since she gets cold a lot. However, when my cat saw her, she went into a defensive position as if my dog was going to attack her. Why didn’t my cat recognize my dog after I put on her sweater? Could my cat have eyesight problems? In order for my cat to recognize my dog again, I had to calm her down and hold her close to my dog so as to recognize her scent and stuff.
I think it’s probably not that your cat has eyesight problems. It could be the smell of the sweater. Is it new? If so, did you get it from a pet shop like PetSmart where other pets are allowed to roam the aisles? Or maybe secondhand? If it’s old, was it somewhere in storage?
You probably shouldn’t worry unless the problem continues. I’m sure the cat will get used to the sweater in any case, especially if it starts to smell like the dog.
