Knitter Loom
When using a knifty knitter spool loom, why do I get holes in my product?
I have a knifty knitter spool loom (the kind with two ends, one a 5 prong, and one an 8 prong.)
When I’m knitting with it, I notice that my finished product has gaps or holes in it.
Im not skipping stitches, and I’m always keeping the tension tight.
Is there any way to prevent this?
I wish I could actually see it. If there’s any chance you can post a photo, it would help.
In lieu of that, I’ll try to take a guess at what you are seeing. If the holes are consistent (regularly spaced and sort of lacy looking) then it is likely because you are using a yarn that is too thin. So try using a thicker yarn and see if that fixes the problem. If that fixes it, but you had your heart set on using that yarn, get a spool loom with a smaller diameter.
If you are getting random holes in some places but not others, I can only think of two possibilities off the top of my head. You said you weren’t missing any stitches. I’ll take that to mean you aren’t skipping any pegs. It might still be possible to get the yarn around the peg, but not get the lower loop properly leapfrogged over the new loop so that in the next round you have three loops instead of two (they might be smooshed together so it looks like two loops, but really be three). So rule that out as a possibility.
Another possibility would be accidentally changing the direction you wrap the yarn around the peg on some pegs and not others.
