Large Knitting
Knitting large letters on a blanket?
So I’m attempting to knit a blanket with a blue background and yellow letters RWU diagonally across the blanket. It’s a simple knit (no purling or anything of that sort) but how do I change colors? For some rows the other color is only for a few stitches but for other it’s like 20. Should I cut and tie the yarns like if I were doing stripes or would that not work because it’s mid-row? I’ve seen that if this were done with smaller lettering I can just leave a floating yarn along the back, but on a blanket I feel like this would get caught and would be extremely long. Any suggestions?
The best way to work this type of colorwork in knitting would be intarsia. Yarn bobbins might be helpful. You may want to check out the video on knittinghelp.com in the advanced techniques section.
