Ruffles Crochet
Is it really difficult to make those fancy, ruffled, flowered?
doilies of years ago? The ones with the fine thread, tiers of ruffles and that have the stand up ruffled bowl like doily in the center and the
flower at the bottom of the bowl which was heavy and looked like it was sewn on, but was not. My Mom made those. She starched them, put them over a bowl to dry, put toothpicks on to hold up the frills until they dried.
I don’t think I have the patience. She used to take a hammer and hammer down a crochet hook to where it was really little if she could not get the right size. She never bullt a house though. She did help buld things and learned some powder puff mechanics.
I love to crochet but I am finding it difficult to concentrate on following patterns. I admire your mom for her craftsmanship! I can imagine some of the fine uses I would have for such lovely doilies – my grandmother made them too.
