Sacque Bonnet

Sacque Bonnet
How do you change sizes for a crochet pattern for a baby set?

I have a crochet pattern for a baby sacque (sweater), booties & bonnet & it’s for a 6 month old. I want to make it smaller (0-3 months). What are the different ways to do that? Thanks.

If I may, it has been my experience that unless you want baby to only wear this once, if at all, make the 6 month size. Babies grow so quickly that newborn sizes generally are too small too fast.

A one size pattern doesn’t give you any idea of how to resize it either, and using smaller hooks and yarn will alter the gauge to the point that it may be too small to wear or be out of proportion and not fit at all. If your pattern starts at 6 month size and goes to a larger size, use the proportional differences in sizes and subtract the difference in stitches from the lower to the higher size rather than adding the difference. Do this with the measurements for length as well, keeping in mind that you also must figure in the stitch numbers of any pattern repeat. I’d still suggest the larger size, though.
