Sock Needles
Who has a pattern that uses circular needles to knit socks? Can I share it, please?
I would like to knit socks with one set of circular needles, but cannot find a pattern anywhere! All the ones I have found use double pointed needles, which — quite frankly —- scare me to death. Thank you for any help you can give! Have a super day!
One circular knitting needle is by far and away too big for socks. Double-pointed needles are actually best for knitting something as small as a sock. The sooner you get comfortable with using them, the better — for you. There’s really no need to be wary of them. They only look dangerous. When you have all of them in a project in progress, it can sometimes look like a miffed porcupine.
Keep your tension steady and not too loose or too tight, and the dps are fine. You can’t forget where you need to pick up from, because that’s where your yarn is. You’ll always know which way you’re going because you know which side the feeder yarn should come from. If the needles fall out of a stitch or two, put them back just like you do with regular needles. Honestly, I’ve had straight needles fall out much more often than my dps do.
There’s really nothing scary about dp needles at all — well, unless you forget you left them on a chair in a dark room. That’s quite unlikely to happen, of course, so get some dps and have fun with making socks.
