Craft Bag

How do i organsie my craft ?

I have stored all my craft stuff in a huge cardboard box. I have so many things in it ranging from cloth( for sewing projects) to paints, sequins, paper craft and all. How do i organise it into a smaller box/bag. I am moving and my husband said a big”NO” to that box. Pls help. I want to keep it organized, neat and clean.

First, inventory what you have and separate it into catagories. Like should be stored with like. Get rid of things you know you won’t use and any duplicates that may seem unnecessary. (You probably won’t need 14 rolls of red ribbon or 10 pairs of scissors – pick your favorites and get rid of the rest). Consolidate anything you can – if you’ve got 2 or three half used bottles of the same thing like glue or paint and can put them in one bottle, do that.

I use plastic underbed storage boxes to store many of my craft items. Because they’re not deep, you don’t have to dig to the bottom to find things, and you don’t have to worry about things getting crushed. Plus they slide out of the way under the bed when you’re not using them, and they don’t take up valuable closet space.

You can use smaller containers, boxes or divider trays within the larger boxes to keep things grouped together. Ziploc bags are also handy for grouping things together, and you can store more fabric in less space with Space Bags (available at BB&B)

I also find clear plastic shoeboxes (you can find them at the dollar store) to be very helpful. You can sort your crafts by catagories, label the boxes and stack them neatly on shelves. Easy peasy to find what you’re looking for. I like plastic because the lids snap on (keeps things in place if the box falls) and keeps the dust out. Plus uniform sizes stack nicley on top of each other.

I don’t recommend cardboard for crafts, especially scrapbooking or fabric crafts. Contact with the acids in the cardboards will eventually ruin your materials, and you don’t want to invest so much in acid free materials just to store them in cardboard. Plus plastic boxes offer better dust and moisture protection than cardboard.
