Trellis Afghan

Trellis Afghan
need help understand a crocheting pattern…?

i’m working on a diamond trellis afghan…….i’m stuck on what the following means: row 4-ch 5,sc in ch-5 lp,*3 dc in next sc,sc in next lp**,ch 5, sc in next lp; rep from* to last sc,end at**;ch2;dc in last sc; turn……the part i’m stuck on iswhen it says do the 3 dc’s and then the sc, do i do the ch 5? or do i do just the 3 dbl crochets and the single all the way thru? the ** throw me off???? please help….thank you

NO WAY!!!!! I am working on this pattern I think! I found it on the back of the label for Red Heart Supersaver yarn.

It is a sort of difficult bunch of directions isn’t it? I disagree with the other posters. repeat * to * means just that – the ** has nothing to do with it — until the end of the row – you must be ending the row with ** sc in next lp, ch 2, dc in last sc; turn.
Repeat from * to * not * to **.
Does that make sense?

BTW: The pattern looks really pretty once you get going. I have about 18 rows done now – it takes a while because you are doing the afghan up and down rather than side to side.

In reading back I decided to clarify myself by writing exactly what I believe row 4 should look like.

Row 4: Ch 5, sc in ch 5 lp, *3 dc in next sc, sc in next lp, ch 5, sc in next lp* and repeat to last sc, ch 2 (not 5), dc in last sc, turn.

Good Luck!
