how do I sew a button on a sweater?
The attaching thread (or yarn) need to have enough give that the thick button hole can wrap around the button. Does anyone have tips for making the attaching yarn not so tight to the garment and still look good?
What you do is leave slack in the thread (or yarn), don’t pull it tightly so the button goes flush against the sweater. Then, after you have sufficient threads through to securely attach the button to the sweater, wrap the thread AROUND the sewn threads in between the button and sweater to form a little neck. Then once more up through the button and down again, this time through the center of the “neck” before tying off inside the sweater.
